Sewing Center Inaugurated at READ Foundation Bhimber Campus

November 2, 2026

BHIMBER, Azad Jammu & Kashmir — As part of a new skill development initiative, READ Foundation has inaugurated its first vocational sewing center inside its college campus in Bhimber, Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), establishing a dedicated facility for skill-based education alongside traditional schooling.

Dedicated to Mrs. Razia Rasheed in September 2026, the center launched with an initial cohort of 30 young girls who are actively learning fabric measurement, cutting, and stitching to build skills for self-reliance.

Practical Skills Beyond the Classroom

Students across regional communities need practical skills that translate directly into self-reliance. The Bhimber center provides a dedicated space built specifically for hands-on, trade-focused work.

By mastering garment making, these 30 enrolled students acquire tools to earn a steady income, support their households, and build a secure financial future.

Inside the Campus Facility

The center inside the school campus is equipped to support daily training:

  • Dedicated stitching workstations for students
  • Professional cutting and pressing tables
  • Essential training equipment and materials
  • A safe, purpose-built space designed for students

With direct instruction, every participant receives individualized mentorship to master each stage of the process.

Future Expansion & How to Support

Following the launch of this first facility in Bhimber, READ Foundation plans to open additional vocational centers across its school network to reach more students in the region.

You can support this expansion by partnering with us to establish upcoming centers in other areas.
